KTM 1290 Super Duke R

The original Super Duke, though stunning when launched, began to feel a bit too long in the tooth recently. Especially when it was compared with the likes of the Ducati Streetfighter, the Aprillia Tuono V4, the new-for-2013 MV Agusta Brutale and the Triumph Speed Triple. But KTM has now given it a new leash of life. Christened the 1290 Super Duke R, this ones a stunner.

Though still in the concept stage, KTM has released some important details about this stunning naked. Shown to the public eye at the EICMA, it spots a bored out version of the RC8Rs 1195 cc engine. The engine hangs suspended from the fully exposed tubular frame. The alloys are finished in part white and part orange, and the rear alloy is fully exposed, mounted onto a single sided swing arm.

The beast looks set to chew up the competition, but not before next year. It has a short wheelbase, given its hooligan-ish intentions. The exhaust mounting is pure in your face, as is the tubular frame chassis painted in bright orange. It gets traction control and ABS. Anti-wheelie and anti-stoppie is also on the list. But these can be shut off, for when the hooligan bug bites you.
